Gilson emeralds are some of the first high-quality synthetic emeralds ever made - created in the 1960 by French engineer Pierre Gilson using flux-growth method. Thry are not mined - they are grown slowly over month, layer by layer, to mimic the chemistry and look of natural emeralds. 
They are known for their rich green color and high clarity - often cleaner than natural emeralds, which usually have visible inclusions. But that's also how experts tell them apart: under magnification, Gilson stones show tiny flux inclusions and curved growth patterns that nature doesn't make.
